Gym resolutioners when do they quit9/8/2023 ![]() I was still nervous but I was well prepared to the point that no one could tell but me. It was a huge stress reliever for me on Day 1. I figured the only thing different between me and the regulars is that they know what they are doing so I learned as much as I could before I went for my first workout. ![]() I even planned exactly what I would watch on the little TV so I wouldn’t be wasting time scrolling through channels wondering if people were getting impatient waiting for their turn on the machine. I looked up videos on gym etiquette, how to use the exact brand of elliptical machines they have, songs for my workout playlist, what to pack in my bag, etc. (They always walk you through an show you where everything is and maybe try to up-sell you on some personal training.) Then I went home and used my google-fu skills to prepare for my first real gym visit. You know what helped me? I did the tour with the staff when I signed up. Keep going and don’t let anyone’s negativity bring you down - no matter if you keep your resolution or remake it 100 times, you’re doing it for you and no one else.Įdit: Wow, thanks, I’ve never been gilded before! Among my resolutions this year is to find and spread the positivity, so I’m glad this has been helpful to some of you. You have as much right to be there using any equipment as anyone else. You are not a bother because it’s more crowded if I have to wait for the squat rack or the rower, well, maybe it will make me try something new today. I’m so happy to see people getting after what they want, doing good things for themselves. You bring new life, new energy, and I feel more inspired in my workouts. The same familiar faces doing the same familiar routines. By the end of every year the gym feels a little stagnant and a little empty. It’s that time again when I hear a lot of annoyance over crowded gyms, and “the resolutioners” who “will just quit in February.” I was in my yoga class this morning, packed like sardines on mats, and (ironically for yogis), heard so many grumbles about the lack of space.
